If you grew up singing along to arena anthems and synth-heavy pop hooks, February 21st is your night. Kids In America is bringing the full sound of the 1980s to The Ruth in Charlotte’s Wesley Heights neighborhood, and the band plays it all live with no backing tracks. This is the kind of show where the setlist moves from Madonna to Guns N’ Roses without missing a beat, and the room fills with voices singing every word.
The show is a fundraiser for Christ is King, so your ticket supports a local cause while you hear the decade performed with the kind of precision that only comes from years on stage. The Ruth is a renovated production venue with room for up to 500, which means you’ll get both the energy of a crowd and the clarity of a well-run room.

About Kids In America
Kids In America is a six-piece 80s cover band built on years of live experience and a shared commitment to recreating the decade exactly as it sounded. Shannon Remley and Ray Hartsfield handle female and male lead vocals. Shannon’s powerhouse vocals and energy along with Ray’s charisma and showmanship make for the ultimate male-female lead vocal combo upfront. Roey Haviv plays bass guitar and bass synth, GK Via covers lead guitar and lead and background vocals, Rob Bowser on keyboards and synths, and Mike Graci handles drums and electronic percussion. This 6 piece very talented band plays everything live with no tracks, covering pop, hair metal, new wave, hip hop and dance with the kind of precision and accuracy that comes from over a thousand shows for just over a decade.
What You Will Hear
Expect the kind of night where you might hear “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “Like a Virgin,” “Sweet Child o’ Mine,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” and “Jump.” The setlist pulls from every corner of the 80s, which means powerhouse ballads sit next to guitar-driven anthems, hip hop breaks appear between new wave singalongs, and the dance floor stays full. Kids In America covers pop, hair metal, new wave, hip hop, and dance with the accuracy of a band that has logged over a thousand shows in just over a decade.
