Picture a six-acre playground of bars, stages, and open-air energy humming somewhere along the South Carolina coast. Now drop a six-piece 80s cover band into the middle of it at noon on a Thursday, and the whole thing snaps into focus. That’s what’s coming to Spokes and Bones in Murrells Inlet on October 1st when Kids In America rolls in for a midday set.
This is the kind of show that rewards showing up early. The crowd at Spokes and Bones moves the way rally-week crowds do, loose and ready, and Kids In America plays to that energy rather than against it. If you’ve never seen a band tear through three decades of pop, hair metal, and new wave in a single afternoon without a single backing track running, this is a solid introduction.

About Kids In America
Kids In America is a six-piece 80s cover band built on years of live experience and a shared commitment to recreating the decade exactly as it sounded. Shannon Remley and Ray Hartsfield handle female and male lead vocals. Shannon’s powerhouse vocals and energy along with Ray’s charisma and showmanship make for the ultimate male-female lead vocal combo upfront. Roey Haviv plays bass guitar and bass synth, GK Via covers lead guitar and lead and background vocals, Rob Bowser on keyboards and synths, and Mike Graci handles drums and electronic percussion. This 6 piece very talented band plays everything live with no tracks, covering pop, hair metal, new wave, hip hop and dance with the kind of precision and accuracy that comes from over a thousand shows for just over a decade.
What You Will Hear
Expect the kind of afternoon where you might hear “Don’t Stop Believin'” give way to “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” or the bass line of “Billie Jean” roll straight into “Livin’ on a Prayer.” The catalog runs wide, so a song like “Take On Me” or “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” is just as likely to surface as “Sweet Child o’ Mine” or “Rebel Yell.” You might catch “Thriller,” “Push It,” or “Walk Like an Egyptian” before the set wraps. The band moves across genres without losing the thread, which is harder to pull off live than it sounds.
About the Venue
Spokes and Bones Saloon sits on roughly six acres along US-17 Business in Murrells Inlet, and the property earns every inch of that footprint. There are around a dozen bars spread across themed spaces, a large covered main stage, a French Quarter area with a floating stage, vendor pavilions, and a speakeasy tucked beneath the main stage for good measure. The venue is built for rally culture, which means the atmosphere runs high-energy and unapologetically fun. It’s the kind of place where you can wander, find a cold drink at a themed bar you’ve never been to before, and still hear the music wherever you land.
Plan Your Night
Arriving early is worth it here. The property is large enough that good spots near the stage fill in ahead of showtime, especially during active rally weeks. Bring cash for vendors and plan ahead for parking when crowds run big. For the latest event details, check the Spokes and Bones official listings or their social channels before you head out.
