If you grew up singing along to MTV’s biggest hits or you just love the decade that gave us neon everything and synth hooks that won’t quit, Waxhaw Taphouse is bringing you Kids In America on Saturday, July 25th. This is the kind of night where the setlist moves from arena rock anthems to dance-floor pop without missing a beat, and the band plays it all live with the kind of energy that makes you forget you’re not actually in 1986.
Kids In America pulls from a deep well of 80s staples, which means you might hear “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” in the same hour, along with everything from “Beat It” to “Come On Eileen.” The show starts at 7:30 PM, and the room will be packed with people who know every word.

About Kids In America
Kids In America is a six-piece 80s cover band built on years of live experience and a shared commitment to recreating the decade exactly as it sounded. Shannon Remley and Ray Hartsfield handle female and male lead vocals. Shannon’s powerhouse vocals and energy along with Ray’s charisma and showmanship make for the ultimate male-female lead vocal combo upfront. Roey Haviv plays bass guitar and bass synth, GK Via covers lead guitar and lead and background vocals, Rob Bowser on keyboards and synths, and Mike Graci handles drums and electronic percussion. This 6 piece very talented band plays everything live with no tracks, covering pop, hair metal, new wave, hip hop and dance with the kind of precision and accuracy that comes from over a thousand shows for just over a decade.
What You Will Hear
Expect the kind of night where you might hear “Don’t Stop Believin'” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me” back to back, or “Take On Me” followed by “Push It” and “Sweet Child o’ Mine.” The setlist pulls from Whitney Houston, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, and Guns N’ Roses, with room for “Footloose,” “Walking on Sunshine,” and “Jessie’s Girl” when the mood calls for it. Kids In America covers the decade’s full range, from power ballads like “Home Sweet Home” to straight-up dance tracks like “Love Shack,” and the band’s dual lead vocalists handle everything from Pat Benatar to Prince without backing tracks or shortcuts.
